Terry Frost worked with the highly talented printer Hugh Stoneman to create the Timberaine series. As described in the excellent 'Terry Frost Prints' catalogue raisonee by Dominic Kemp, one block of wood was cut for each stripe. Terry Frost selected Ash, for the qualities of grain and the resulting surface texture of the prints. The 10 blocks were grouped in to 2 sets of 3 and 1 of 4 to give the three elements of the triptych. These fabulous prints were beautifully executed and really need to be seen to be appreciated - they are deceptively simple but its all about the selection of colour causing the magic to happen.
